Why You Need to Do Website Analysis before Starting Your SEO Campaign – Find Out Now

Hello Friends, In the previous blog I’ve talked about how to do keyword research for your business and today I’m doing to tell you about why you should do website analysis for your website before starting your SEO campaign.

So, first of all, it is very important that your website must be authentic as an SEO point of view, otherwise, Google will not allow your website to get into the top posts of the SERP(search engine result pages). That’s why you need to make sure that your website is SEO friendly and it passes all the Google Webmaster Guidelines.

Now, there are so many parameters that are there for your website analysis. You need to understand that doing just one or two changes will not make your website SEO friendly. So, we will go through all the parameters one by one and understand its requirements. Let’s dive in straight.

1.Title & DescriptionTags: Meta tags are the snippets that describe the content of a page and it is for Google Bots as they don’t understand the human language. The most important tags are the Title tag and Description Tag.

Now, the Title tag is the most important tag for a webpage because it tells the Google bot that what is the name of the webpage and the Description tag explains to the bots that what is the webpage all about. When a user hits a query, the bots find the exact information for that particular query and if your title justifies that query then your webpage will be shown for that query.

When you are preparing a Title or a Description, make sure that you check the character limits. Nowadays, Google does not go with the exact numbers of characters for a Title or Description. Because today, Google finds the best solution for a user’s query and provides the webpages exact solution for that query. But, to make your website SEO friendly, you need to keep a Title of around 55-60 characters and a Description of about 155-160 characters.

Put your main seed keywords for that page into the Title and the Description must tell that what is that webpage is all about.

2.Header Tags: Header tags are the headers that you see on a webpage. When a website loads, you see the first title on a webpage that describes that page is a header. There are headers from H1 to H6. It is important as an SEO point of view that you keep the hierarchy of the headers in a webpage. That means, there should be the first H1 then H2 and so on.

Now, the most important header is H1. There must be only one H1 on each page as it shows that what the page is all about. For example, if your page is for SEO Services, then the H1 should be like “Best SEO Services to Reach Your Audience Organically”. So, after reading this, you can understand that this page is for SEO.

Try to keep the hierarchy of the headers because it defines the structure of a webpage. The headers help you to become a featured snippet in Search Results. When you search for a query and if you find a list features snippet, the pointers that you see there all are the headers, maybe the H2 or H3. So, headers can improve your visibility in SERPs.

3.Image Alt Tags: The images are a very important part of a webpage in today’s world. Nowadays, people tend to see visuals because those are very easy to understand and also provide graphical representation so it makes more appealing to a user.

We need to focus on Image search as it can provide you the traffic for your business. An image can convert a prospect into a client for your business, only if that image is engaging enough to make them convert.

But, how your images can convert a prospect into a customer? For that, you have to make sure that your audience reaches the image that you have made. Here, the Alt Tag can make it possible. When you give an Alt Tag to an Image, it describes that image. And if your webpage is getting enough traffic, it is possible that in Google Image Search, your image may visible as a search result.

Alt tags mainly used for images because sometimes, a webpage does not load very quickly on a particular device as the internet is slow or maybe browser problem, at that time, in place of that image, this Alt tag will be visible to the users and they will easily understand that what that image is all about. So, it is a very important aspect for your website that you provide Alt tags to all your main images.

4.OG tags and Twitter Cards: OG Tags are called Open Graph tags and Twitter cards are important for twitter. Why do you need to add these OG tags and Twitter Card into your webpages? Because, when you add OG Tags and Twitter cards into your webpages, you don’t need to add additional Title, Description, Images, etc. while sharing your webpage on different social media marketing platforms.

When you will share your webpage on social media platforms like Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, etc, at that time, you don’t need to add a new Title, Description or Images as it will be automatically fetched from your OG tags. And when you share that webpage on Twitter at that time Twitter Card will work the same. You don’t need to add anything as it will be automatically fetched from the Twitter card. So, check out for this as well.

5.Code to Text Ratio: Code to Text ratio is the ratio of visual text to the code present on your website. The Code to Text ratio must be more than 25% normally. The present text on your website must be 25% more than your HTML code. So, try to make more content for your webpages. If your webpage has enough content then it would be easy for the users to understand your products or services that you provide.

So, make sure you have enough content on your webpages that describe each page’s services or products to your audience.

6.Website Loading Speed: In today’s competitive world, it is the most important factor that your website must load within 3-4 seconds. Otherwise, your user will jump onto any other website. Nowadays, the competition is so hard that if you want to make a place in the leading results of the search engine result pages, then you have to load your webpage faster then other websites.

So, make sure to check some pointers like multiple CSS, Content Delivery Network (CDN), Cache, Content, etc. There are many tools available that tell you the pointers you need to eliminate to make your website load faster.

7.Robots.txt: Robots.txt is the first file that a crawler visit. In the robots.txt, you might have mentioned some disallow rules that suggest to the crawlers not to follow or index those pages. This text file helps crawlers to identify which pages to crawl and which pages not to crawl.

When you are creating a new website, at that time this file helps you as you mention the pages that you are creating or working on and you don’t want the bots to visit those pages. So, it is not mandatory to have this file on your website unless and until you want webpages not to crawled by the Google bots. But I suggest, you should have one.

8.XML and Html Sitemaps: There are two types of sitemaps one is the XML sitemap and the other one is the HTML sitemap. If you ask me which sitemap is important, I would say both are important.

The XML sitemap helps crawler or bots to find all the pages that your website has. There are so many tools that helps you to create an XML sitemap. In Google Search Console, you can add your sitemap.xml and Google will automatically get awared of all the pages that you have on your website. So, this sitemap is for Google Bots.

Now, the HTML sitemap is for users. When you have an HTML sitemap on your website, it becomes very easy for a user to navigate through your website and land on his/her desired page. Because in this sitemap, all the pages will be mentioned so that a user can directly visit the page he/she wants to visit.

9.Canonical tag: The canonical tag is also an important aspect of a webpage. The canonical tag used to prevent duplication problems for your webpages. A canonical tag has a destination URL for a page. Sometimes, a single page opens with multiple URLs. For example: Let’s say there is a webpage called “abc.com”. So, this webpage may open with www, Https://www, Https://, Http://, etc. So, in this situation, Google bots will consider these URLs as multiple URLs for a single destination page.

So, to reduce the duplication issue for these multiple URLs, it is mandatory to provide a canonical URL in the canonical tag so that the bots understand that for all these URLs the destination URL is one. So, don’t forget to give a Canonical URL to your webpage.

10.Mobile-Friendly Website: According to data, there are around 53% of people who use mobile phones and they all surf everything on their phones. They shopping, order foods, send and receive data, and other stuff. So, your website must be a mobile-friendly one so people can easily visit your website and get your service or buy your product.

You can create AMPs (Accelerated Mobile Pages) for your webpages as it takes very little time to load on a mobile device and it would be easier to access your website on mobile phones.

11.Engaging Content: You have heard that “Content is King!” and this is very true. If you want Google consider your website as the best source for user’s queries, you have to provide the best engaging content on your webpages. When a user hit a keyword in the search tab, the bots will find the best suitable answer for that keyword and if your website is not capable to provide answer of that query, it would be hard to get ranked in SERPs.

So, make sure, the webpages you have created must have engaging content that describes the page services or products.

12.Lead Capturing System: There must be a lead capturing system that should work for you to generate leads for your SEO campaign. This system can include a good catchy title to bring a user on the landing page, one contact form for a user to fill up, then a thank you page to provide the feedback to that user. Thank you page is helpful to count the leads and you can see how many users have landed on this page.

In this way, once your website will start ranking for your desired keywords, you will surely get inbound leads and those leads are easy to convert. So, focus on a lead generation system that could work for your business to get the best leads.

13.CTA buttons: Don’t forget to add CTA(Call to Action) buttons. These buttons let a user take action for their requirements. When you create content on a page, you have to make sure that it is engaging to a user. Because if a user likes your content then and then he or she will click that CTA button. So, for example, if you are a doctor and provides treatment for particular diseases, then your webpage must have the content to attract a user to get treatment from your clinic and for that, you have to put a CTA button with that content.

14.Domain Authority: Even if your website is new you need to check your domain authority and if your domain is older than 2 years you need to see where your domain authority stands. Once this is done you can start working on generating backlinks. If your Domain Authority is NULL you have to acquire .gov and .edu backlinks very quickly.

So, make sure you have the best CTA buttons with your content in your webpages.

So, these are the pointers that you need to rectify before starting your SEO campaign. You might have heard that if you do your On-Page SEO perfectly, your half work is done. So, these are the On-Page optimization pointers.
